Abarth has added some supercar style panache to its little roadster.

The Italian brand has unveiled its special edition Abarth 124 GT ahead of its official debut at the 2018 Geneva motor show.

A standout feature for the little drop-top is the addition of a carbon-fibre hard-top that operates in the same way as the manual soft-top on the standard version. Abarth claims the hard-top weighs only 16 kilograms.

Additional special features include new 17-inch light alloy wheels, along with gun metal coloured mirror caps and an optional matte black bonnet.

The special edition comes with the same 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 125kW and 250Nm and is mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Fiat is also using the Geneva show to display a second special edition, the Abarth 695 Rivale, which is designed in partnership with yacht builder Riva and is available as both a hatch and a convertible.

Decked out in two tone blue and grey paintwork with aquamarine strips around the mid-drift, chrome finished door handles, satin chrome moulding on the tailgate and 695 Rivale badging differentiate the model from the stock Abarths.

Power comes from the same 1.4-litre petrol unit that produces 135kW and 250Nm and is mated to either a six-speed manual or an auto transmission.
