Ford has provided even more incentive to buy a Ranger with the introduction of its "Ford 2nd Car" promotion that gives customers two weeks in a Mustang with the purchase of Ford's already popular ute.

The promotion also applies to the Escape SUV when purchased from participating dealers.

The blue oval isn't providing many details yet but says the scheme will be affordable and will extend the program out to more models in the range later this year.

A pitch on the company website says “whether it’s a Mustang for a trip to the beach, an Everest for a camping adventure, a Transit to move house, or simply an extra vehicle for friends or family, 2nd Car is another way Ford is exploring new mobility solutions”.

The brand also announced a new way for potential customers to test drive its sports car range on Tuesday. The “Ultimate Mustang Road Trip” allows drivers to take the wheel of a new Mustang for up to two hours in NSW, Queensland or Victoria.
