Audi has teased a new electric-powered supercar planned to be unveiled at Laguna Seca race track on 23 August as part of the events supporting the 2018 Pebble Beach Car Week in Monterey, California, in a single darkened imaged uploaded to media website.

Called the PB18 e-tron (a reference to the words Pebble Beach and the year 2018), the new two-seat concept car was developed at Audi’s newly established Design Loft in Malibu, California as part of an internal program investigating design ideas for what possible future production models.

While the German car maker is remaining tightlipped on details PB18 e-tron until closer to its unveiling, it hints the new supercar will take various design cues from the Le Mans winning Audi R18 e-tron race car and include technical solutions being developed for an electric powered successor to the second-generation R8.

Among the design elements that can be made out in the image of the low and wide PB18 e-tron are signature LED headlamps and rearview cameras mounted atop of the cockpit similar in style to those set to be made available as an option on Audi’s first series production electric car, the e-tron – itself set to be unveiled on 17 September in San Francisco, California.

The new Audi is the second electric powered concept to be confirmed for this year’s Pebble Beach Car Week, following word from Mercedes-Benz that it intends to reveal a dramatic homage to its earlier streamlined record breakers with a car known to insiders at the Electric Silver Arrows.
