Audi has announced a special limited-run Neuburg Edition of the R8 supercar as an Australia-only model.
The name comes from Audi Sport’s Neuburg headquarters and is intended as a celebration of the division’s motorsport heritage.
Just 10 individually-numbered examples will be made available, based on the Audi R8 V10 Plus.
Pricing kicks off at $402,500 before on-road costs for the Neuburg edition, which is $500 less than the regular R8 V10 Plus.
The Neuburg edition scores Audi's laser light LED headlights, 20-inch gloss black alloy-wheels, and gloss black finishes for the engine covers and wing mirrors.
Inside, the limited edition gets black Nappa leather upholstery with red diamond pattern stitching, black Alcantara headliner with diamond stitching, carbon fibre inserts, plus Alcantara covering the parcel shelf, flat-bottomed steering wheel, and gearshift gaiter.
Colour options will depend on the build number with either Tango red, Mytho black, Suzuka grey, or pearlescent Daytona grey available.
Owners will also receive a gift presented in a box in the Audi Sport rhombus shape that includes a set of Bang and Olufsen H6 headphones with R8 badging, a Samsung Galaxy Tab loaded with professional images of the R8 and a 360 degree video of the Audi R8 racing around the Phillip Island circuit.
The R8 Neuburg edition remains powered by the same 5.2-litre V10 engine that produces 449kW of power and 560N of torque as the rest of the R8 range and is paired to a seven-speed automatic transmission that drives all four wheels.
