Volvo debuts next-generation mid-size estate..
The new Volvo V60 wagon will be built on the same platform as the XC60, so it will most likely mimic many of the features and specifications as the mid-size luxury SUV.
Volvo has confirmed that it will offer the new V60 with two plug-in hybrid variants: the 300kW T8 which is currently offered locally in the XC60 and combines a supercharged and turbocharged four-pot with an electric motor and a 250kW T6 variant.
Local buyers should also expect the same diesel and petrol offerings as the XC60 when the wagon makes it to Australia. This means the choice of two oil-burning units the 140kW/400Nm D4 and potentially the 173kW/480Nm D5 engine could replace the smaller D3 unit offered in Europe. Petrol variants would consist of the 187kW/350Nm T5 and the 235kW/400Nm supercharged and turbocharged four-cylinder T6 engine.
Also expect the same eight-speed auto, all-wheel drive combo as the entire XC60 range.
As it is a Volvo, the new V60 will have an impressive safety suite including autonomous emergency braking that also brakes for pedestrians, large animals and cyclists and a full array of semi-autonomous driving tech.
The V60 also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Full local details, pricing and availability will be revealed at a later date.
