Subaru has updated its BRZ sportscar for the 2018 model year with a revised infotainment system and a new enthusiast-focussed flagship model.
Following closely behind the reveal of the BRZ STI Sport at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show in October, Subaru will add a simailar model locally, badged as the BRZ tS - tuned by STI.
Mimicking the BRZ STI Sport, the tS gets a raft of new dynamic upgrades including new flexible V-braces and front draw stiffeners, red Brembo brakes with four-piston front and two-piston rear calipers, Sachs suspension, STI-tuned coil springs and STI 18-inch alloy wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres.
Externally the tS picks up STI and tS badging, and a new front bumper and grille, while inside the STI logo adorns the the push button ignition and steering wheel (which also picks up red contrast trimming), along with red and black Alcantara-trimmed seats with the tS logo, plus red seatbelts.
Pricing starts from $39,894 before on-road costs when equipped with a six-speed manual or $41,894 when paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Despite the visual upgrades and handling changes the BRZ tS remains powered by the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine as the rest of the BRZ range, producing 152kW and 212Nm in manual guise, or 147kW and 205Nm as an automatic.
The whole BRZ range receives an upgraded infotainment system with a 7.0-inch touchscreen display that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and in-built navigation.
The updated BRZ range is now on-sale locally.
