Range Rover's most well-heeled model now has a green tinge.

The British brand has revealed a new plug-in hybrid version of its range-topping Range Rover model, which follows on from the recent reveal of the plug-in hybrid Range Rover Sport PHEV.

Priced from $190,000 before on-road costs, the Range Rover PHEV comes in towards the bottom of the range, with only the base Range Rover Vogue diesel priced lower.

Power comes from the combination of a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 221kW and 400Nm and an 85kW electric motor, with combined outputs of 297kW and 640Nm. Power is delivered to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Claimed fuel use is rated at 2.8L/100km.

Range Rover claim the PHEV can drive for up to 51km on pure electric power, and that the 13.1kWh lithium-ion battery can be charged in 2 hours 45 minutes with a 32amp wall box or 7 hours and 30 minutes when using the standard home charging points.

The hybrid system has two selectable modes; Save Function which will prevent the battery charge dropping below a certain point and Predictive Energy Optimisation where the driver inputs a destination into the GPS and the vehicle will maximise the fuel economy.

Range Rover has matched the new hybrid drivetrain with some new luxury features which include a gesture sunblind, cabin air purification system, anti-dazzle LED headlights and the brand's activity key which was first available with the Jaguar F-Pace.

Wider seats also offering heating, ventilation and massage settings are complimented by the ability to recline up to 40 degrees.

Countering Range Rover's new environment respecting flagship, the brand has also increased power for its most powerful model the SVAutobiography Dynamic. The supercharged 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine now pumps out 416kW, a jump of 12kW.

The Range Rover PHEV will arrive locally from March, 2018. The rest of the updated Range Rover lineup is now available for order.
