Jaguar has introduced its newest F-Type variant to Australia, powered by the brand’s Ingenium turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

Up until now the F-Type’s engine bay has played home to supercharged V6 and V8 engines, but the introduction of the new engine sees the price of entry drop to a more affordable $107,012 plus on-road costs.

That price will get you into an F-Type coupe, with roadster buyers needing to find $125,712 plus on-road costs for the F-Type 2.0-litre convertible.

The four-pot F-Type expands the range, with the supercharged V6 and V8 engines still available. The new Ingenium 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine produces 221kW of power and 400Nm of torque.

It’s paired exclusively to an eight-speed automatic transmission and only available in rear-wheel drive.

Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, leather and suedecloth sports seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, aluminium trim, climate control, keyless ignition and an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen. F-Types come standard with six airbags in the coupe and four in the convertible as well as autonomous emergency braking.

There are some notable optional extras though, including a reversing camera, blind spot monitoring and lane keeping assist.

The new F-Type four-cylinder is on sale now.
