For the Aston Martin V12 Vantage, V stands for valediction.

The British brand prepares to say farewell to its V12-powered Vantage coupe and convertible with a limited edition.

Named the V600, the limited-run models draw inspiration from the brand's 600-horsepower supercharged V8 Vantage sports car from the late 1990s.

Based ono the outgoing version of the V12 Vantage, the V600 will be limited to just seven examples each of the coupe and convertible.

The V600 will more than likely be the Vantage's V12 swansong as the recently launched new Vantage focuses on the brand's new partnership with AMG that sees the German company's twin-turbocharged V8 placed under the bonnet.

Aston Martin has squeezed some extra power out of the big 6.0-litre naturally aspirated V12, bringing horsepower up to 600 or 447kW, which represents a rise of 25kW over the stock V12 Vantage.

All 14 limited edition will be paired with a seven-speed manual transmission.

The British marque's bespoke department, Q by Aston Martin, will be responsible for a number of exterior and interior styling tweaks including a new carbon fibre rear diffuser and unique aluminium wheels. Inside the V600 features carbon fibre and dark aluminium trim throughout, bespoke driver information dials, a saddle leather centre armrest and an exclusive seat perforation pattern.

“This is precisely why we created our ‘Q by Aston Martin - Commission’ service. Our customers can create truly bespoke sports cars by personally collaborating with myself and Aston Martin’s design team. The V600 name remains a classic in Aston Martin’s heritage and I’m proud to see it adorn the V12 Vantage V600 once again”, said Aston Martin chief creative officer, Marek Reichman.
