It seems the natural enemy of the two-wheel-bound - the SUV - has now been drafted to watch over a whole pack of them.

After revealing full details on the 2010 BMW X6 M last week, the Bavarian manufacturer is keen to spread the word about its hottest SUV to date. To that end, BMW has wrapped a X6 M in race livery and sent it to Qatar where it has been performing safety car duties for the MotoGP.

With a 415kW (555hp) twin-turbo V8 lurking beneath the bonnet, the X6 M is clearly capable of taming the Losail circuit and keeping the riders in check.

The X6 M is not the only M-powered vehicle on hand either, with BMW also providing a M3 and a M5 Touring.

A BMW 330i Touring and an X5 4.8i will also make an appearance at the event, assisting with VIP transport duties.

You should have no trouble spotting the portly X6 M during the race. Riders will likely be keeping a watchful eye on it as well.
