A Monaco Grand Prix-winning Maserati 250F is set to steal Ferrari thunder at Ferrari’s annual home auction event, the ‘Ferrari Leggenda e Passione’ in Maranello.

Due to get underway on 17 May 2009, the 250F is one of big ticket cars to be offered for sale at what has become the annual auction event for unique Italian performance cars.

Considered by many to be one of the greatest Grand Prix cars ever, the Maserati 250F enjoyed enormous competition success in the hands of legends such as Juan-Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss.

This particular 250F (chassis number 2526) was driven to victory at the1956 Monaco Grand Prix by non-other than Stirling Moss.

It was also driven by Fangio, Jean Behra, Carroll Shelby and others during the 1957 and 1958 seasons. The current owner is only the fourth custodian of this significant car since it was manufactured.

The ‘Ferrari Leggenda e Passione’ will take place on 17 May 2009 at Ferrari’s legendary test track, Fiorano, with preview days on 15 – 17 May 2009.
