Japanese tuner Mines must be relishing the return of the GT-R. Historically the king of all tuner cars, Evos and WRX’s are cool but they ain’t no GT-R. Mines have taken their first version of the new GT-R out to the Tsukuba circuit in Japan for a shakedown run and reportedly posted a 1m 3.1sec lap. A little more development work is required before they beat the 57.7sec lap time of their tuned R34 GT-R.

According to the information currently to hand Mines are only dipping a toe in the water with their first version of the GT-R. Mods are expected to include an upgraded ECU, high-flow air filter, higher-flowing injectors and upgraded exhaust. The suspension gets a mild refurbish with the addition of Eibach springs, upgraded brakes and the addition of a few carbon-fibre bits and pieces including mirrors and canards on the front spoiler.

Like I said, for a GT-R this is very mild and we can look forward to some more serious tuner developments as the various firms get their heads around the new Godzilla. I doubt it will take Mines long before they break the 57.7sec lap time held by their R34 GT-R.
