MERCEDES-BENZ has today launched its new MercedesSport individualisation range, starting with the E-Class line-up before expanding the programme to other models.

Part cosmetic and part performance, the accessories range includes specially-designed 18-inch light-alloy wheels, sports suspension and aerodynamic and styling components.

Available for the E-Class Saloon, Estate, Coupe and Cabriolet, the MercedesSport package features sportier front aprons and skirts, along with optional rear and roof spoilers. Fog lamp louvres up front and a faux diffuser insert for the rear bumper round out the body kit updates.

'Bicolour' gloss-black 18-inch alloy wheels sit in front of a sports braking system with cross-drilled discs. Specific sizes for the discs and calipers have not been offered.

Upgraded suspension is on offer as well, with stiffer damping, transverse stabilisers and shorter springs, lowering the E-Class by 15 millimetres.

Inside is a four-spoke sports steering wheel with perforated leather and a silver contrasting seam, optionally available with shift paddles and heating.

Stainless steel pedals are available, along with stainless steel door entry panels illuminated in white.

Speaking with TMR today, Mercedes-Benz Australia's David McCarthy said that while dates and pricing have yet to be confirmed, the MercedesSport products are likely to filter down to Australia.

"It will flow through to Australia. Already, designo has become a significant part of our customer orders, and products like the MercedesSport program really help to sell cars, so we expect to see it here. It's really only a matter of timing and which parts of the range we want to take up," Mr McCarthy said.
