Mercedes-Benz S 500 And AMG S 63 Recalled For Wiring Hazard

Mercedes-Benz is recalling its S 500 and AMG S 63 variants from the S-Class luxury range due to a potential problem with a wiring loom.

The carmaker has identified a fault with the loom, which may cause a faulty camshaft signal due to its excessive length.

If this was to occur, the automatic starting procedure may be unintentionally cancelled, which may cause a hazard to the vehicle’s occupants and other road-users.

A total of 281 vehicles are affected in Australia, which were sold between October 2013 and October 2015.

Late last year, Mercedes recalled its AMG S 63 sedan for a separate engine stalling issue, which affected models sold between November 2014 and September 2015.

Mercedes-Benz will attempt to contact affected owners shortly, but any owner wishing to learn more about the latest round of recalls should contact their local dealer.
