Rumours of a Mercedes-Benz 'Shooting Brake' have been circulating for some time, and the company's willingness to trot out concepts like the ConceptFascination and April's Shooting Break (sic) lend some credence to the idea of a production version in the future.

Based on most recent of those two concepts, our rendering (top of article) offers a look at what we might see if Mercedes decides to add a wagon variant to the next-generation CLS - expected to arrive later this year.

The shooting brake CLS' powertrain would likely mirror that offered with the CLS sedan, expected to feature Mercedes' new 5.5 litre bi-turbo V8 engine, producing around 400kW and 800Nm of torque.
