Mercedes-Benz Australia has recalled its C-Class midsizer, due to a potential problem with the battery.

The carmaker says the threaded connection of the battery ground line may not be designed correctly.

Should the system not be grounded correctly, shorting could cause sparks and local heating issues, which could lead to a fire in extreme cases.

The W205 C-Class is the model in question, sold in Australia between August and October 2014. Just five vehicles require attendance.

Last week, Benz recalled selected Sprinter load-hauler models, due to a potential fuel leak.

Mercedes-Benz will attempt to contact affected owners shortly, but any owner wishing to learn more about the latest round of recalls should contact their local dealer.
