Mercedes-AMG has recalled its AMG GT performance model in Australia this week, due to a potential problem with the driveshafts.

The carmaker has identified a weakness with a driveshaft joint, which may be allowed to come loose while driving.

Should this occur, the driver may experience a loss of drive, causing a hazard for the vehicle occupants and other road users.

Just eight AMG GTs are included in the recall.

Skoda Octavia And Rapid Recalled For Door Lock Fix

Skoda has recalled its 2016MY Octavia midsizer and the Rapid small car, due to potential problem with the rear door locks.

As with the Volkswagen Golf, Tiguan and Polo which were recalled last week, the issue centres around the rear-door child locks.

The carmaker says the lever for the child lock can break as it was damaged during manufacturing.

Should this occur, the user may not know if the child lock is in the ‘lock’ or ‘free’ position, and children may be able to open the rear doors while driving.

Skoda says 91 Octavias are included in the recall, along with 23 Rapids.

Mercedes-AMG and Skoda will attempt to contact affected owners shortly, but any owner wishing to learn more about the latest round of recalls should contact their local dealer. Skoda customers can phone the Customer Care line on 1800 607 822.
