Mazda RX-8 facelift pictures

Ahead of its Tokyo Auto Salon debut, Mazda have released an image of their facelifted RX-8 RS, an uprated JDM model. While the RS is a JDM only proposition, its styling will be shared by the facelifted RX-8 due to be unveiled in Detroit next week, so essentially this is our first look at the new refreshed RX-8.

There were no further details released with the official image but further information should materialise over the coming days. Essentially, the facelift is a basic refresh of the styling with the bolt on bits getting a bit of a tweak. The front bar is sharper in its styling and features larger air-intakes, new driving lights and a splitter.

Exterior features that are RS specific are the 19-inch alloys and rear spoiler but that aside this is essentially the new look RX-8. It would be nice to think that the larger air-intakes indicate that a performance upgrade of the Renesis Rotary is a feature of the facelift, but we will have to wait for the official word from Mazda on that one.
