From November next year, all new vehicles sold in Australia will be required by law to feature Electronic Stability Control as a standard feature.
Known by myriad names across different manufacturers, all ESC systems ultimately provide the same core function: detecting and minimising the loss of traction, braking each wheel to help steer the vehicle in the intended direction.
In what is sure to become a stream of announcements from carmakers, Mazda Australia has today announced that the all-new 2012 BT-50 ute will be fitted with its own brand of ESC technology, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC).
Mazda's DSC system is already offered as standard across the company's passenger car range, but is not offered with the 2010 BT-50 - although most variants are offered with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, which maximises stopping power while maintaining control of the vehicle.
Due for sale in Australia late next year, the new BT-50 is currently undergoing tests in Australia, including calibration of the DSC system.
“If you consider how the All-New BT-50 is likely to be used, it becomes clear just how many situations have to be taken into account to ensure that the Dynamic Stability Control system meets the needs of each and every driver,” Mazda Australia Engineering and Compliance Manager, Wayne Watson said.
“Mazda engineers have spent months calibrating and fine tuning the Dynamic Stability Control system to ensure maximum safety and durability.”
