While working on bringing the next-generation Quattroporte to market, Maserati has unveiled a new variant of the six year-old super-saloon at the Australian International Motor Show.

Dubbed Quattroporte MC Sport Line, the package is based on the Quattroporte GT S, with power from the 4.7 litre V8 engine unchanged at a healthy 323kW.

Developed using feedback from its racing department, Maserati Corse, the MC Sport Line package is, in simple terms, a carbon-fibre overload.

Replacing the wood trim of the GT S with carbon-fibre across the dash, the front and rear consoles, door panel inserts, gear knob and around the switchgear, the MC Sport Line package also sees each of the door sills fitted with carbon-fibre trim panels. Each is embossed with the MC Sport Line logo as is the aluminium brake pedal.
