Following the launch of the Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT-S at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, Maserati have switched the emphasis for its performance saloon back to luxury at the Detroit International Motor Show this week (13 January 2008) with the launch of the Quattroporte Collezione Cento, which offers sophisticated Italian style and luxury combined with exclusivity.

The Maserati Quattroporte Collezione Cento is launched in a unique new colour, ivory white with highlight lines that enhance the lithe, muscular shape of the Quattroporte’s body. The exterior is completed with 20 inch polished alloy rims and a chromed honeycomb finish for both the grille and the side air vents.

However, it is on the inside where the Quattroporte Collezione Cento reveals its unique luxury features, with arguably one of the most beautiful interiors to be found in a current model car. From the Poltrona Frau “Cuoio” colored leather seats with diamond-shaped stitching and matching buttons in the centre to the polished Wengé wood inserts on the steering wheel, center console and glove box, this is one Maserati that just drips with opulence . The interior is further enhanced with mother of pearl inlays in the interior badging and the Maserati Trident on the gear shift knob. Cuoio colored leather is also used for the door trims, enhanced by Beige contrasting edges.

Maserati designers took into account customer feedback when designing the interior for the Maserati Quattroporte Collezione Cento. Quattroporte owners were questioned last year about how they would like to see the interior of their cars transformed.

Its not just about lashings of leather and mother of pearl highlights either, with the latest technology also featuring strongly in the Collezione Cento. Back seat passengers have access to a multimedia smorgasbord, controlled by the Maserati Multimedia Entertainment system. The technology is housed in the rear center armrest, which contains an AUX-IN socket, iPod docking station, SIM card mount and USB port so that passengers can view photographs, videos or listen to MP3/WMA tracks contained in other peripherals. The car’s multi-speak HiFi speaker sound system or Bluetooth individual headsets may be used for audio playback.

The armrest also features a built-in keypad for Internet browsing and email access and there are two 10.4” touch screens complete with a CD/DVD player built into the back of the centre receptacle.

Unlike the Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT-S, which will arrive in Australia and New Zealand in mid-2008, the Quattroporte Collezione Cento is not being added to the normal Quattroporte range. Total production is being limited to 100 units worldwide, which means prospective Australian buyers will need to duke it out with the other 99 people around the world wanting to get their hands on a Collezione Cento.
