Earlier this week we brought you some images of what was believed to be Maserati?s GranTurismo S. In the meantime we have received confirmation of the images and more details concerning the new Maser from the Australian importer.
The two main changes to the GranTurismo to produce the new ?S? variant are the new 324kW/440hp V8 4.7- litre engine and electro-actuated gearbox. The new box features fast MC-Shift and is a transaxle layout.
The GranTurismo S gets a new set of Brembo anchors that feature front brake discs made using dual-cast technology ? a dual casting of cast iron and aluminium, paired with aluminium mono-bloc 6-piston brake callipers.
The exterior the Maserati GranTurismo S is characterised by a number of aesthetic modifications that, although discrete, are (according to Maserati) highly effective and make the car body appear sportier without abandoning the sleekness of Pininfarina?s lines.
The interior is upholstered in Poltrona Frau leather and Alcantara and features new front seats. Both front and rear seats are distinguished by horizontal piping on the seats and seatbacks.
The Maserati GranTurismo S will make its Australian and New Zealand debut in early 2009, when prices and local specifications will be announced. In the meantime it will be making its public debut at next months Geneva Motor Show.
