Maserati GranTurismo S Automatic Headed To Geneva, Cabriolet To Follow

Maserati has announced that it will unveil the GranTurismo S Automatic at next week’s Geneva Motor Show, making good on its promise to introduce a new model at each international show in the process.

Up until now, buyers have had to take a hit in the engine department if they wished to have the automatic transmission, as only the 4.2 litre V8 engine has been available with the auto.

Now, 'Mazza' buyers can have the convenience of the auto with all the power of the top-spec 4.7 litre V8 engine.

Maserati has fitted the ZF six-speed auto to its range-topping wet-sump V8 engine, producing 323kW (433hp) and 490Nm of torque (361lb-ft), offering drivers the very best of both worlds.

The GranTurismo S Automatic also features the Skyhook suspension system, which utilises continuously adjustable dampers to ensure the ride is as smooth as possible without compromising the car's handling dynamics.

These features combine to make the Maserati GranTurismo S Automatic a true Grand Tourer in every sense of the word.

In other Maserati news, Motor Trend is reporting that Maserati is planning to unveil its GranTurismo Cabriolet at the next Geneva motor show in 2010. Rather than being coined as the  'Spider', Maserati will go with Cabriolet, as a 2+2 seating arrangement will be utilised and the 'Spider' name is traditionally held for genuine two-seaters.

If reports are accurate then expect to see the GranTurismo Cabriolet sporting the same 4.7 litre V8 and ZF six-speed auto as seen in various other Maserati models.
