Lotus Exige Sprint gets 70’s funky to celebrate 40 years of production

Lotus has come over all nostalgic and reached back to the early 1970’s for some divine inspiration. The result is a 2008 Exige Sprint that mirrors the 70’s livery of the original 1971 Elan Sprint. The reason for the funky paint job and homage to a 70’s Lotus classic is simple – Lotus are celebrating 40 years of production at their Hethel facility, which commenced back in 1967.

Only 40 of the Lotus Exige Sprints will be built, with all of them being right-hand-drive examples. Aside from the unique paintwork, each Exige Sprint will come with a heritage pack, containing a certificate signed by Mike Kimberely, Lotus CEO, along with a book detailing the important Lotus models from the past four decades. Leather bucket seats and air-conditioning are standard.

The rest is all pure Exige, which is all good, because it means 0-100km/h in around four seconds, go-kart like handling and the ability to drive under semi-trailers if and when required.
