The enthusiasm of local scribes who are handed the responsibility of covering the Melbourne Grand Prix is without question, but on occasion, their research can let them down.

Herald Sun journalist Chris Creswell was left red-faced at the FIA's official Friday Press Conference yesterday after quizzing Swiss Toro Rosso debutant Sebastien Buemi over a 'diary' he has been updating on his team's website.

A recent entry by Buemi detailing his arrival at Melbourne Airport said: ?It?s a scandal! I have been taken to a small room and there is talk of giving me something called a ?full body search?.

?It?s ridiculous but apparently I have committed a crime by bringing 20 bars of Toblerone chocolate into Australia. Eventually they let me go, but they keep the chocolate.?

Now maybe you or me might have recognised this as a gag (obvious you?d reckon). Creswell, unfortunately, unaware of the Red Bull brand?s ?not-too-serious? approach to things was left a little perplexed.

?I?ve just been reading your diary, S?bastien, it?s very funny,? Creswell asked in front of the world's media. ?Did you really get your Toblerone chocolates taken off you by the customs??

?No, it was a joke,? Buemi replied.

(Err, quit while you?re ahead Chris...) But no, he ploughed on; following up with another question regarding the entry. ?And that $350 taxi fare was a joke too??

Seemingly stunned, Buemi mustered a single word response, ?Yup.?

Creswell may have been under the impression that he had unearthed a gem of story; unfortunately for him, it just wasn't his day.
