Lexus LFA To Be Leased, Not Sold

LEXUS WILL LEASE rather than sell all 500 of its AU$455,000 LFA supercar, in a bid to ward off speculators.

Speaking with industry paper Automotive News, Lexus US Vice President Brian Smith confirmed that the LFA would be offered on a two-year lease, with the option to buy the car at the end of the lease.

"We want people out driving the car and not just parking it in a museum or selling it at an inflated price," Smith told Automotive News.

The 410kW V10 Japanese supercar, limited to just 500 units, will be built on an as-ordered basis only, allowing buyers leaseholders the opportunity to personalise virtually every facet of the car's styling.

It is unclear at this stage whether any of Lexus' LFA supercars will make it into Australian driveways, but Lexus Australia is reportedly working to get at least one car into the country for demonstration purposes.
