ONLY ONE DAY after announcing its return to the 24 Hours of Nurburgring in May, a handful of images for the 'warmed' but blandly named Lexus LFA Special Edition leaked online.

Today, the Japanese luxury and supercarmaker has revealed official details for the Special Edition, launched to mark the LFA's race return.

Lexus says the Special Edition will get a small power boost, rising from 412kW to 420kW - thanks, most likely, to a reprogrammed ECU. The time to 100km/h remains unchanged however, covered in the same 3.7 seconds. Top Speed is 325km/h.

Giving the LFA SE an advantage on the track over its 'regular' sibling, canards, a new front splitter and a GT-style fixed rear wing crafted from carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer feature on the new model.

A recalibrated transmission cuts 0.15 seconds from the LFA SE's shift time, while stiffer suspension and special alloy wheels shod with semi-slick tyres round out the main technical tweaks.

Available in black, matte black, white and orange, the LFA Special Edition will account for 50 of the 500 LFAs available. Lexus has not revealed a price for the LFA SE.
