For those excited by the rumours that Toyota might be bringing a production-ready Lexus LF-A to the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show, there?s new reason to hold hope.

The hotly-anticipated supercar is back in intense testing at the Nurburgring, and while little has changed visually ? we?re expecting to see changes to the headlights and tail lights ? the fact that the Japanese supercar is still pulling laps would point to the idea that production is on the cards.

The production Lexus LF-A is expected to be motivated by a 5.0 litre V10, making 373kW (500hp) and relieving your wallet of about AU$280,000 (US$200,000).

For comparison?s sake, the 360kW V8 Ferrari F430 will run you upwards of AU$434,000, so it would seem Lexus is holding true to its ?more for less? approach.

Current rumours say that only 1000 LF-As will be produced, but the capacity exists to produce more units if the demand is there. There?s no word on whether we should expect the stunning roadster version to accompany the hardtop.

Our friends at MotorAuthority have the spy photos, so jump over and take a look.
