Lexus IS-F may be getting the “R” treatment

It’s not even released yet and already there is a rumour that Lexus will be producing an “R” version of their IS-F performance four-door. It seems that the Lexus boffins are not content with just matching BMW's M3, they want an opportunity to really put the wind up the competition.

The “R” version is likely to feature a Yamaha built 5.0-litre V8 with output rising from 311kW (417hp) to 320kW (429hp). Not a huge increase but when combined with a weight loss program that sees the “R” drop around 100kg (220lbs) through the use of carbon fibre body parts and some “delete options” on the interior, this will be an IS-F with attitude.
