Let's get one thing straight right now, what you see here is not the work of Sant'Agata Bolognese's finest designers.  No, it's not a Lamborghini project in any way.

Rather, this is the work of one very talented Romanian car designer by the name of Iulian Bumbu.

Oddly, there's nary a mention of a bull anywhere near the Insecta;  Iulian notes - and as you can probably guess, going by the name - that the inspiration for the body of this beast came from the insect world rather than the bovine.

Bumbu, who interned at Alfa Romeo's styling department after earning a masters in car design, envisages the Insecta slotting into the Lambo lineup upon the eventual retirement of the Gallardo (the car from which Bumbu pictures the Insecta deriving its drive train).

With dimensions similar to that of the Gallardo and body panels fashioned from carbon-fibre, the Insecta would certainly be at home in the Lamborghini stable.

Visually, the car is a hit and we could easily see a real life version of the Insecta cruising the streets of Milan, but about that name...
