A one-off $1.5 million biofuel powered Koenigsegg CCXR has been crashed into a ditch. The 760Kw mega supercar was crashed while travelling between photographic locations for Top Gear.

No, it wasn’t Jeremy, James or Richard driving but none other than a senior engineer from Koenigsegg who was provided with the car to ensure it returned in one piece…after the Stig and Peter Grunert from Top Gear had their turns behind the wheel.

The Koenigsegg hit a highway cone at 193km/h which sent it spinning into the ditch shown in the picture. Luckily both the driver and passenger were uninjured. Minutes before the engineer had removed a rear venturi to fit a camera and Peter Grunert estimates that this single modification would have reduced rear down-force by 100kg at the speed they were doing.

The underside of the Koenigsegg was reportedly a mess with all four corners shattered (carbon-fibre) and one of the wheels was completely destroyed. Peter Grunert believes they got off lightly considering…
