Melbourne-based supercar startup JOSS Developments has announced a partnership with world-renowned Australian group MoTec, an alliance described by JOSS as a "perfect fit" in the development of the company's JP1 supercar.

"A highly dedicated team is currently developing the JOSS JP1 mid-engined sports car in Melbourne. Its all-important performance is now enhanced with our working relationship with MoTeC," JOSS Technical Director Matt Thomas said.

Thomas said it was MoTec's "proven track record" that led to the partnership, and "the fact that race teams from all over the world use their systems. Their results speak for themselves".

From its beginnings in the 1980s with screwdriver-adjusted ECU technology, MoTec has grown to become a global leader, its name synonymous with motor racing across the likes of Le Mans, NASCAR, World Superbikes and Australia's own V8 Supercars category.

"I have been personally following the JOSS project for some time and I must say that I am very pleased with the JP1’s progress," MoTec founder Richard Bendell said.

"I am very proud to be associated with an Australian company that aims to be the best of its type in the world; the very same principle that MoTeC holds as a core value."
