Jaguar’s new XF sedan has certainly polarized opinion across the globe. Some despise the styling with a passion, feeling let-down but what they view as being a watered down version of the stunning C-XF concept. Others see it as a modern step in the right direction for Jaguar – a Jaguar that won’t necessarily appeal to the smoking jacket, clay pipe and deer hunter hat brigade but will overall have a broader appeal than previous models.

Its early days yet, but the signs are promising with Jaguar reporting that they have already taken around 3,000 pre-orders for the new XF sedan in the UK.

"The fact that there is a buzz being generated around the XF is good and the translation of that into pre-orders has exceeded expectations. If it sells as expected, and all the early indications say that it will, it will be profitable for Jaguar and a very important stepping stone in the road for recovery for Jaguar profitability," said Richard Parry-Jones, chief technical officer of Jaguar's parent company, Ford.

Personally, I see the XF being just the car that Jaguar need, it is streets ahead of its German rivals in terms of styling and presence. Lets hope for the sake of Jaguar's soon to be new owners that the initial promise held by the XF continues.
