Is Nissan Preparing A Wuss-Spec, Err, Spec-M GT-R?

If the news of the 2009 Nissan 370Z featuring an automated rev-matching system rankled the true believers of the Z Cult, this news is bound to raise similar ire.

The good lads at PistonHeads have reported that Nissan is working on a ‘Spec-M’ version of the monstrous new Porsche-killing Nissan GT-R, offering softies a ride that promises to be kinder to their sensitive bot-bots.

The GT-R’s track-ready suspension will go back on the shelves, replaced by a marshmallow-coated setup, offering a more refined ride and featuring ripple-control shock absorbers.

Not unlike the difference between the RZ (sport) and GZ (luxury) trims of the last Toyota Supra, the GT-R Spec-M will offer a wider range of interior colour and trim choices to entice the upmarket buyer, such as BMW-like aluminium, wood grain, leather made from the children of the lower classes, that sort of thing.

Despite the desire to grab the attention of fat executives, the Spec-M is expected to cost around ¥13 million (AU$191,000), while the Spec V costs – in Japan – over ¥16 million (AU$235k).
