Infiniti has recalled its Q50 sedan, due to potential issues with the vehicle’s steering.

The carmaker says vehicles with low battery power at start-up which were parked with the wheels turned, rather than in the ‘straight ahead’ position, can be susceptible to the recall issues.

The vehicle’s power steering unit may miscalculate the steering ratio, which could lead to a change in the normal steering behaviour for the driver.

A change in steering behaviour could pose a hazard to the vehicle occupants and other road users.

The recall process will involve a reprogramming of the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) in the Direct Adaptive Steering (DAS) system at no cost to owners.

Affected Q50 models were built between November 2013 and November 2015, with 310 examples targeted in Australia.

Infiniti will attempt to contact affected owners shortly, but any owner wishing to learn more about the latest round of recalls should contact their local dealer or call Infiniti on 1800 241 193.
