Hyundai has confirmed that its baby i20 will be making its Australian debut at this year’s Melbourne International Motor Show.

Set to go on sale in Australia in the third quarter of this year, the i20 is a size smaller than Hyundai’s acclaimed i30. According to Hyundai, the i20 boasts premium features and technology usually seen on larger more expensive models.

In addition to being feature packed, the i20 also features a long(ish) wheel base that has allowed designers to come up with a spacious interior, defying the i20’s light car status.

Designed by Hyundai’s European design studio in Russelsheim, Germany, the i20 carries through the ‘i’ series front grille, incorporating a bold chrome-topped grille flanked by teardrop headlamps.

If the i20 sounds like your sort of machine, you can drop into the 2009 Melbourne Motor Show to scope it out. The show opens to the public from 5pm on Friday the 27th of this month.

If you can’t make the show, don’t worry. We’ll be there to we’ll grab a few happy snaps for you.
