Following the official press photos of the Hyundai ix-onic concept (or at least really good 3D renderings) released last week, Hyundai has unveiled the real deal for journalists on the job at the Geneva Motor Show.

Designed not too far away at Hyundai?s Russelheim studio in Germany, the ix-onic was designed to a simple brief: it should be ?tough and compact for life in the city, but sleek and agile for out-of-town travel.?

The ix-onic concept is powered by a 1.6 litre GDi turbo-charged engine making a good 130kW (175hp). The production version is expected to receive a new 2.0 litre version of Hyundai?s R-Engine turbo-diesel, expected to make 135kW (180hp).

Measuring 4400mm long, 1850mm wide, and 1650mm tall, the ix-onic is similar in size to the Tucson, and is likely its replacement in the Hyundai lineup.

The ix-onic will receive its proper unveilling at the Geneva Motor Show, along with all of the technical details. Stay tuned.
