Hyundai Genesis with 283kW V8

While we are all busy thinking that the 300kW or so Australian performance sedans are the ducks guts, Hyundai are said to be looking at dropping a 283kW 4.6-litre V8 into their upcoming Genesis premium sedan.

According to the folks at HyundaiExchange, the Hyundai R&D boss, Hyun-Soon Lee let the kilowatts out of the bag at a recent meeting of Korean executives.

We knew the Genesis was going to feature a 4.6-litre quad-cam 32-valve V8 but this new revelation concerning its output has come as a surprise. Hyundai have no intention of politely knocking on the premium sedan club room door – they’re going forcefully knock it down.

The Hyundai Genesis Luxo-barge is set to have the looks and the power of its European and Japanese rivals without the price. What a pity we won't be seeing it Australia anytime soon. Initially at least, the Gensis will be a North American only model.
