When the covers first came off the HSV W427 at this years Melbourne Motor Show, the limelight was stolen by Holden’s Coupe 60 concept. The first production ready 7.0-litre LS7 powered HSV sedan ran a distant second to the sexy new coupe in the level of interest that was shown.

But that has all changed today, with HSV releasing official details of the biggest, baddest production sedan in their 20 year history. LS7 power won’t be coming cheap to Australian enthusiasts with the W427 confirmed as retailing for $150,000, plus on-road costs, a price that will rise if the proposed luxury car tax is endorsed.

HSV has also confirmed that they will build up to 427 W427’s with vehicles being built to order at their Clayton production facility. Each of the 64 Australian and New Zealand based HSV dealers will be allocated one W427, provided they have a firm retail order, with the remaining W427’s being allocated to dealers based on their 2007 sales figures.

The W427 features an exclusive front fascia, a new three-piece carbon fibre rear spoiler and all new 20-inch wheels. Inside there are performance seats trimmed in ‘red hot’ leather that match the steering wheel, gear shifter and console lid, also covered in the vibrant shade.
