As promised earlier this year when it launched the conventionally-shifted VFR1200FA, Honda Australia has today announced availability of the dual-clutch-equipped 2010 VFR1200FDA.
As with its manual sibling, the VFR1200FDA is powered by a 1237cc V4 engine, producing 129kW at 10,000rpm and 115Nm of torque at 8750rpm.
The world's first production road bike to feature a dual-clutch transmission, the VFR1200FDA offers three operating modes: D-Mode for regular automatic operation, S-Mode for a sportier version of the automatic setup, and a six-speed manual mode that Honda says will operate exactly like a traditional manual transmission.
To select the modes, the rider uses a switch on the right handle grip, with the clutch and gear shifts controlled by the computer in D and S modes, while manual mode allows the rider to change gears in a more traditional fashion.
Other features include a slipper clutch, a Combined Braking system with ABS, a maintenance-free drive shaft and an aluminium twin-spar diamond-configuration frame.
The VFR1200FDA is available in Candy Prominence Red and Seal Silver Metallic and is available from Dealers nationally at an MSRP of $25990.
