To commemorate forty years of sales success in Australia, Honda has released a limited run of '40th Anniversary Edition' Honda Accords. The company has come a long way in this country since Australians first saw its high-revving little fun-ster, the S600 sports.

For $31,440 (plus on road costs), buyers will receive all the standard Accord features with a handful of tasteful additions thrown in for good measure. Honda's 2.4 litre i-VTEC engine, producing 133kWs and 222Nm's, will provide the motivation while a smooth shifting five-speed automatic comes as standard.

The Limited Edition Accord will receive fog lights, rear parking sensors, Bluetooth, floor mats, illuminated door sill garnishes and 40th Anniversary badging. Plus, for the month of January, Honda is throwing in free registration and CTP insurance, a five-year warranty and free five-year 24hr Premium Roadside Assist.

Honda's Accord has a long and rich history as one of the company's most successful models, having sold over 16 million units since 1976, in 160 countries, over the last thirty years.

When originally released into the market, the Accord was the first Japanese car to feature air conditioning, a digital clock, power steering, cloth seats, a tachometer, intermittent wipers and an AM/FM radio as standard.

That success continues with Honda's current generation V6 Accord. Honda Australia’s Senior Director, Mr. Lindsay Smalley, is proud of the Accord's success in Australia.

“The Accord was one of the first models Honda introduced to Australia 40 years ago and has been a popular choice ever since. The name ‘Accord’ was chosen to symbolise Honda’s efforts to achieve an accord between people, society and motor vehicles through advanced technology.

“The Accord was ahead of its time when the first model was released and it continues to evolve to this day. Last year we launched the 8th generation Accord, offering buyers the choice of either a 2.4 litre four cylinder engine or a powerful 3.5 litre V6 featuring revolutionary Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) technology that seamlessly switches between six, four and even three cylinders as required,”

Even if the history and pedigree of the Accord is lost on you, the Limited Edition 40th Anniversary Accord represents exceptional value at under $32,000. If you're interested, be quick because a deal like this is sure to be popular.
