HONDA IS SET to reveal a concept version of its next generation Odyssey wagon/mpv at next month's Chicago Auto Show.

It is unclear at this point if the new model will succeed the Japanese Odyssey - the version offered in Australia - or the larger van-like North American Odyssey (or perhaps both).

The Japanese carmaker has offered very little in the way of styling or technical details for the new Odyssey, except to say that it will "further enhance its hallmark qualities of innovation, quality, safety and fun-to-drive character while increasing its overall efficiency."

One existing Honda concept may already offer a hint of what's to come for the new Odyssey: the hybrid Skydeck concept revealed at last year's Tokyo Motor Show.

While the concept's scissor doors are unlikely to ever see the inside of a showroom, the Skydeck's general flowing style and CR-Z inspired face might herald the future of Honda's corporate design language.

For now, we'll just have to wait and see.
