Bearing only a vaguely similar look and profile to its concept sibling, Honda has this week revealed its Chinese-market 2011 Li Nian S1 light sedan.

Based on the Li Nian Everus concept unveiled in Beijing earlier this year, the production Li Nian S1 does away with the Everus' unique two-tier headlights, sharp character lines and fast roofline - leaving only the large chrome grille to connect the two.

Honda has revealed little about the Li Nian, but it has confirmed that, unlike the Nissan Sunny unveiled yesterday, the new Honda is not destined for sale as a global model.

The S1 will be targeted at younger buyers in these Chinese market from mid-2011, with engine options that will include 1.3 and 1.5 litre powertrains. Performance, power and fuel consumption figures have not been revealed.
