I knew something was amiss this morning, I'd felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out and were suddenly silenced, and now it all makes sense.

Honda has officially cancelled plans for the long awaited NSX supercar. Honda, having already pulled out of F1, is blaming the unrelenting downward spiral of the global economy as the reason behind the move.

The NSX had been coming along nicely with reports indicating that the Japanese supercar would be motivated by the most powerful production car engine Honda has ever produced. The V10 in question was said to generate in the vicinity of 420kW.

What is to become of the V10, and also how this will affect the introduction of Honda V8 engines down the track, still remains to be seen.

Honda has thankfully not ruled out the possibility of the NSX returning in the future when the global economy turns the corner. But when or if that will happen will be enough to keep Honda pundits awake at night for many moons to come.
