HONDA AUSTRALIA has announced that from today it will pass import duty savings for its Japan- and UK-sourced models onto customers.

Honda's new pricing, which will result in savings of between $1500 and $3000, applies to the Accord Euro, Odyssey, City and Civic Si.

The savings come a month before the tariff on imported passenger cars is reduced from 10 to 5 percent on January 1, 2010 (and a month before the 50 percent tax rebate for eligible small business customers comes to an end).

” We are pleased to pass on these savings on award winning models such as the Accord Euro and Odyssey to our customers a month early,” Honda Australia General Manager for Sales and Marketing, Stephen Collins said.

The Honda City now starts at $19,490 for the VTi manual.

Models sourced from Thailand are ineligible due to an existing Free Trade Agreement between Australia and Thailand. These models include the Accord, Civic sedan, and Jazz.

Four-wheel-drive vehicles are already subject to an import duty of five percent and will therefore not receive any price reductions.
