Australian ECU specialists Haltech have achieved an impressive feat with their brand-new R35 development mule - a 11.124-second quarter mile time from a stock GT-R using nothing more than an aftermarket ECU. Their R35 GT-R is completely standard aside from Haltech's piggy-back ECU, which squeezes every last drop of performance out of the GT-R's VR38DETT via some changes to the ignition timing and fuel maps. The interior is still in place, the tyres are the same Bridgestone RE070Rs that come from the factory and even the exhaust - typically the first thing changed by many Japanese tuning houses - is the standard item.

The low 11-second ET was achieved while using the R35's launch control feature, which proved a little problematic on later runs. Still, given that Haltech have brought Nissan's new performance flagship within spitting distance of a 10-second quarter mile with such minimal modification, we're sure we'll be seeing the bar raised higher and higher and the ETs drop lower and lower as more tuners discover the true potential of Japan's first real modern supercar.
