GTbyCitroen Heading For Limited Production Run?

Rumour has it that the GTbyCitroen could be headed for an extremely limited 20-vehicle production run. The love child of Citroen and Polyphony Digital, the makers of the Sony Playstation 3 game Gran Turismo 5, was originally created as an in-game only special feature.

Word has it that PSA Peugeot Citroen's new design director, Jean-Pierre Ploué, has indicated that there are production plans for the GT, which appeared as a rolling shell at the Paris Motor Show.

The wild proportions and styling of the concept would make for an extremely rare collectible. We've seen the full race interior, adjustable rear spoiler, massive 21-inch wheels and gull-wing doors, but what we're really interested in is what will be sitting behind the driver in the engine bay.

In Gran Turismo 5, the GT features a fully electric drive-train powered by a hydrogen fuel-cell. Whether this will carry over into the real world is anyone's guess.

The auto industry has been in a shambles of late. With all the negative vibe around the place, we're all for the idea of a completely over-the-top limited production run of a car that was designed for a video game. As crazy as it sounds, the GTbyCitroen may be just what the doctor ordered.
