GREAT WALL MOTORS has today announced that its X240 SUV is now available in Australia, starting from $23,990 driveaway.
A five-speed manual gearbox is fitted as standard, mated to a 2.4 litre petrol four developing 100kW at 5250rpm and 200Nm of torque between 2500 to 3000rpm.
Fuel consumption is rated at 10.4 l/100km on the combined cycle.
Disc brakes feature at all four corners, behind 17?7.0-inch wheels shod with 235/65 R17 tyres.
For safety, the X240 offers dual front airbags, ABS brakes, electronic brake-force distribution and rear parking sensors.
Electronic stability control is not offered, but will likely be added in time for the Australian Federal Government's mandated ESC requirements in 2011.
Air conditioning, electric driver?s seat, leather-trimmed seats, power steering, central locking and an eight-speaker CD/MP3 sound system figure among the X240's standard features.
A sunroof makes up the only optional extra, available for $1000.
Spearheading GWM's passenger car offerings in Australia, the X240 is set to be joined by a version of the Chinese-market Florid five-door small car by the end of this year.
