FOLLOWING YESTERDAY'S news that the upcoming XBOX 360 title Forza Motorsport 3 will feature the Bugatti Veyron and a handful of Holden and Ford V8 Supercars, today brings more exciting news for racing simulator fans.

Polyphony Digital, publishers of the legendary Gran Turismo series, has released five screenshots from the upcoming fifth instalment in the long-running franchise.

Not to be outdone, Electronic Arts has released a trio of Need For Speed SHIFT 'track guide' videos, detailing the rich and realistic racing the game promises.

Despite the ongoing wait and numerous delays, these first GT5 images offer little, showing only five different views of the SuperGT Nismo GT-R.

If nothing else, fans now have an idea of what to expect from the game's menus and 3D model quality.

The more time that passes, the more Gran Turismo's legend has begun to unravel as competitors Forza Motorsport 3 and the upcoming Need For Speed SHIFT move to fill the void.

Diehard GT enthusiasts may still have the wood over fans of its competitors when Gran Turismo 5 finally launches: Sony has confirmed that over 1000 different cars will be available, eclipsing the already generous 400 or so on offer in Forza Motorsport 3.

Need For Speed SHIFT, the latest instalment in Electronic Arts' Need For Speed series, continues to impress in its move to transform the franchise from an arcade racer into a dedicated racing simulator.

EA has today released a trio of 'track guide' videos, complete with narration, created to walk drivers through the intricacies of successfully navigating some of the most difficult tracks in the world.

The videos have been released as a means of showing fans the extent the game's developers have gone to in accurately and realistically portraying the 'real world' racing circuits in the game.

Covering Road America, Willow Springs and Laguna Seca, the three videos can be viewed below.
