Godzilla to make Oz debut at 2008 Melbourne Motor Show

It’s official! Godzilla will be appearing at this year’s Melbourne Motor Show beginning February 29. In its first Australian public appearance, Nissan will have their new R35 GT-R on display. The Japanese-spec model will give a tantalising preview of what to expect when it goes on sale early next year.

Described by Nissan as the "ultimate supercar for anyone, anywhere, at anytime", the GT-R has stunned the world's motoring press with its performance - comparable to or better than many supercars, without the super price-tag.

Under the bonnet is the all-new 3.8-litre twin turbo V6 "VR38" engine featuring plasma-sprayed bores and a special twin-turbo exhaust manifold system, producing 353kW at 6400rpm and 588Nm from 3200 to 5200rpm.

Putting the power to the ground is an all-new GR6-type dual clutch transmission with paddle shifting and a Borg Warner six-plate dual clutch, built into a rear-mounted transaxle for optimum weight distribution.

Suspension features a Bilstein DampTronic adaptable damping system, and the brakes are large Brembo full-floating drilled rotors with Brembo six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers.

The body combines steel, carbon fibre and aluminium for stiffness and lightness, and the drag coefficient is a low 0.27 - all in a four-seat coupe.
